College of Medicine Research Core Facilities

 Drexel University College of Medicine Cores are shared resources which offer a wide range of services dedicated to the support of research. Shared resources play a crucial role in fostering collaboration and providing access to state-of-the-art instruments, technologies, services, training, and expert consultation. By subsidizing these facilities and recovering costs through user fees, COM ensures that researchers have the advanced technologies and support to advance their research creating an environment where collaboration is not only possible but actively encouraged, leading to more innovative and impactful research outcomes.

Research Facilities

Flow Cytometry Core Facility
This state of the art facility provides access to high-speed cell sorting, analytical flow cytometry and spectral flow cytometry. The equipments available are listed below:

  • BD FACS Symphony A5 SE 48-color analyzer
  • BD LSRFortessa 14-color analyzer
  • BD LSRFortessa 18-color analyzer
  • BD FACSAria Fusion 18-color high-speed cell sorter

Stellaris Microscope Core Facility
The Leica Stellaris 5 Confocal microscope is a true confocal point scanning system, 
including a White Light Laser as excitation light source, an Acousto Optical Beam Splitter (AOBS) and a highly sensitive, prism-based spectral detection design with computer controlled adjustable bandwidth for all fluorescence channels.
